Money saving tips

Only boil enough water in the kettle for the drink(s) you are going to enjoy now. (Also, if you are replacing your kettle then buy an energy efficient one, and it will actually help you do this)

Replace your light bulbs with Low Energy Light bulbs in as many lights as you can, the standard fittings are really cheap now, and in some cases free!  (In fact their free here....if you take any two of our Utility products we will give you 4 bulbs free*, for nothing, gratis....as in FREE!)

Have a shower not a bath, heat & use less water (2x savings)

Insulate hot water pipes

Insulate your hot water tank, (if you have one), and don't stop at one jacket, use 2 or more, it is recommended that you have 160mm of jacket/spray foam insulation

Insulate your loft, loft insulation is recommended up to 270mm or 11" in old money. Really easy too, just let us know and we'll get it done for you. It is cheaper (and much easier) to get us to organise it, than buying it and fitting it yourself.

If you have cavity walls, then get them insulated as well, its as easy as the loft insulation, and often can be done at the same time.

Don't just Stand By..... turn it off..... most electrical devices such as televisions and DVDs still have a stand-by light and therefore if they are not totally disconnected/turned off electricity is still being used

If you need to replace any 'white goods' such as a fridge or washing machine, then choose an A or A+ rated appliance

If you need to change your boiler, then choose a condensing A rated one. This is claimed to save as much as £275 - £300 a year! Now thats not enough for most people to change the boiler before it fails, but if circumstances force you to change then make sure its a Condensing A rated boiler (oh, and make sure you get some decent heating controls, so that the boiler is only running when you really need it to)
