Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) are being introduced to help improve the energy efficiency of buildings.  If you are buying or selling a home you now need a certificate by law.

From 1st October 2008 all buildings, whenever they are built, sold or rented out, will require one.  The EPC provides 'A' to 'G' ratings for the building, with 'A' being the most energy efficient and 'G' being the least, with the average to date being 'D'.

EPCs are required for residential rental properties from 1st October 2008 (at change of tenant).*

EPCs are required for commercial sale or rental properties from 1st October 2008 (at change of owner or tenant).*

EPCs are required for all residential sale properties on the market (including those prior to the HIP regulations 2007) from 1st October 2008*
*Exceptions may apply

Our team of accredited energy assessors produce all of the variations of EPCs, including commercial and public buildings, alongside an associated report which suggests improvements to make a building more energy efficient.

Data Gathering

There is alot of information required to complete an EPC and this is usually done on paper. However we are proud to be working in partnership with eTech Ltd a provider electronic survey solutions.

Smart EPC (from eTech Ltd)

SMART EPC is a combined hardware and software package which enables our Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) to generate EPCs with supporting site notes from data captured in the field.

SMART EPC dispenses with the requirement for time consuming manual paperwork. The handheld PDA captures the relevant data on site together with observations, limitations to inspection and site photos. Your EPC is generated more consistently and efficiently meaning our assessors time  on site is reduced. With the inspection complete, SMART EPC populates the DEA's Accreditation Scheme report writing software and generates a comprehensive and consistent electronic record of inspection for each EPC, which includes annotated photos and an image of the drawn plan.
