Objectives
In undertaking our duties and responsibilities under this policy Eminent Home Inspections Ltd recognises the financial constraints of a small business. Therefore, the cost implication of any undertaking will be carefully examined and weighed against the environmental impact of non-implementation before any measures are undertaken.
It is our objective to operate our business in as environmentally friendly manner as possible.
What we have already done…
We try to minimise our use of paper. Our ordering system and the use of e-mail greatly reduces the amount of paper used in hard-copy letters and envelopes. Moving information electronically is also much more energy and carbon efficient than physically sending a hard copy.
We now print on office paper from either recycled or sustainable sources.
Reducing waste through recycling and using recycled products and materials wherever practical. All of our incoming packaging materials (cardboard, polystyrene, shredded paper, air bags, etc) are reused, or recycled.
Where possible we are choosing to source our materials from suppliers who operate in an environmentally friendly manner and who are geographically local to us to reduce delivery miles.
We are using digital cameras for taking photographs for business purposes (and encourage our staff to do so at home). This eliminates the use of film developing chemicals.
Educating and training staff to work in an environmentally responsible manner and allowing them to play a constructive role in developing ideas and initiatives
What we intend to do….
To seek advice and best practice guidelines as to its use of premises, conserving energy, water, wood, paper and other resources while still providing a comfortable working environment
Our consumption of fuel and energy will be monitored and care will be taken that it is not wasted through inefficiency or casualness.
Our vehicles will be chosen with fuel efficiency in mind and their fuel consumption closely monitored. They will also be well maintained in order to extend their working lives thus minimising the largest environmental impact of a motor vehicle, namely the disposal of discarded vehicles and the manufacture of replacement vehicles
We will continue to add links to our website promoting sensible and sustainable attitudes towards the environment, renewable energy etc, so follow this link for free advice and grants that the government have made available....and save a fortune on your utilities as well.
